
Muscat: The Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Public Authority for Mining in cooperation with the Implementation Support and Follow-up Unit will organise laboratories for energy and mining sectors on March 18 at the Oman Oil and Gas Institute at Innovation Complex in Muscat.
This will continue for six weeks in line with governmental efforts to enhance economical diversification in accordance to the Ninth Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
These laboratories are aimed to benefit from components available in energy and mining sectors and come out with initiatives and projects enhancing their roles in the economy through the strategic directives which will be discussed within these laboratories to form executable initiatives and projects within the determined schedule and a clear scientific methodology. The strategy of energy sector includes energy security through diversification of energy sources for generating electricity without gas to find alternative energy sources as well as enhancing provisions of gas and electricity for industrial sector. With regards to the mining sector, the Public Authority for Mining will excel through strategic directives to increase the Sultanate’s metals production and this will double the sector’s local output as will attract investments from the private sector. — ONA
