Three school students killed in accident in Oman

Muscat: Three students from the Abu Yazid al-Riyami school in Jabal Akhdar, in the Wilayat of Nizwa, were killed in an accident when a driver lost control of a vehicle carrying school students earlier this morning, Royal Oman Police (ROP) announced.
According to officials, the vehicle had a total of 12 male passengers, with nine sustaining moderate to severe injuries and were rushed to Jabal Akhdar health centre.
At around 8:25 am, a police helicopter headed to the accident site to transfer the injured students to the nearest health centre.
In a statement online ROP said, "A total of 9 injured students were airlifted by an ROP helicopter from the scene of the accident to the Al Jabal Health Centre and the Nizwa Hospital."
The Royal Oman Police offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Authorities also warned motorists to exercise caution while driving in mountainous areas and avoid speeding and illegal overtaking.
The Ministry of Education said that it was closely following up with the concerned authorities, and offered their condolences, saying, "The Ministry expresses its regret for this accident and extends its condolences to the families of the deceased students and prays that God grants a speedy recovery to the injured."
