International participation in Holi celebrations in Oman

Muscat: The festival of colours Holi was celebrated by Indians living in the Sultanate on March 1 and 2.
“The festival was organised at a temple in Darsait. Hundreds of people took part in it,” said Priya Kumar, a resident of Oman.
Holi, a two-day festival celebrated by Indians across the world, marks the arrival of spring. People celebrate with colours to symbolise the variety of shades often associated with the season.
Also, “Festival of Colours”, presented by Axis Events, in association with Omantel, was organised again this year at the Muscat Almouj Golf Club, where thousands of people belonging to various nationalities and religions gathered to celebrate and take part in the festivities.
“The festival of colours cannot be confined to a particular country or community, as colours have a universal appeal,” said Dr. Nithin R.S., CEO of Axis Group, adding, “This was clearly visible in the event, in which 5,270 people of 58 nationalities attended the celebrations with their full zeal and enthusiasm.”
He further said the event would not have been possible without the support of the Royal Oman Police, which deployed 30 police officers to prevent any mishaps. Activities for various age groups included a fun zone, a food court, and live musical performances.
