Muscat: Waves Engineering rode on match-winning performances by Mohammed Shakeel, who took three wickets, and Safeer Abbas, who slammed an unbeaten 64, to thrash Khalsa United by nine wickets in the Intermediate Cup Knockout Tournament at Muscat Municipality Ground II in Al Amerat.
Opting to field first, Waves Engineering restricted Khalsa to a modest 139 for seven in 20 overs. Suhail (49 off 27) and Irfan Ahmed (30 off 30) were the main scorers. Mohammed Shakeel bowled brilliantly to claim three wickets.
Waves Engineering raced to the target in just 15.2 overs, scoring 140 for one thanks to Safeer’s superb knock. Opener Kamaljot Singh remained unbeaten on 48 off 47.
Brief scores: Khalsa United 139 for 7 in 20 overs (Suhail 49, Irfan Ahmed 30; Mohammed Shakeel 3/19) lost to Waves Engineering 140 for 1 in 15.2 overs (Safeer Abbas 64 n.o., Kamaljot Singh 48 n.o., Mohammed Shakeel 24).
Faris powers RAHRC to victory

In another Intermediate Cup match, Faris Said Al Zadjali’s brilliant all-round show powered RAHRC to an eight-wicket win over Bank Muscat at Muscat Municipality Ground I.
Invited to bat first, Bank Muscat were bundled out for a paltry 113 in 18.4 overs and Faris claimed four wickets for 21 runs while Mohammed Firoz took two. Ajay Hirlekar topscored with an unbeaten 22 off 26.
Chasing a small total proved to be a cake walk for RAHRC who scored 118 for two in 11.2 overs. Nanda Kumar was the highest scorer with 56 not out off 30 while Faris contributed valuable 49 off 31.
Brief scores: Bank Muscat 113 all out in 18.4 overs (Ajay Hirlekar 22 n.o., Faris Said Al Zadjali 4/21, Mohammed Firoz 2/28) lost to RAHRC 118 for 2 in 11.2 overs (Nanda Kumar 56 n.o., Faris Said Al Zadjali 49).
Mehul win thriller

Mehul Enterprises sent Ahli Bank packing after a thrilling nine-run victory in another Intermediate Cup game at Muscat Municipality Ground II.
Batting first, Mehul amassed 182 for six in 20 overs thanks to solid knocks by Faizaan Mohammed (51 not out off 28), Javed Mohammed (38 off 28) and Imran Khan (32 off 14). Mohammed Arif and Arun Sharma bagged two wickets each.
Facing a big total, Ahli Bank made a valiant effort but fell short by nine runs, scoring 173 for seven in 20 overs. Farrukh Jamal (48 off 37) and Mohammed Arif (40 off 23) were the notable scorers. Farhan Syed and Haneef Jamaluddin claimed three and two wickets respectively.
