Muscat bourse ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 Index gained 0.55 per cent to close at 4,985.28 points. MSM Sharia Index ended at 704.40 points, up 0.03 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. United Power was the top gainer, up 3.95 per cent, while the top loser was Al Hassan Engineering, with losses of 10.00 per cent.
A total number of 734 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR1.63 million with 11.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 16 advanced, 6 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR115,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR6,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR121,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index had strong gain of 0.72 per cent to end at 7,347.19 points. Al Batinah Development, Gulf Investment Services, NBO, Al Madina Investments and Al Sharqia Investments gained 3.70 per cent, 3.49 per cent, 3.37 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.79 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.23 per cent to finish at 6,780.43 points. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries and Gulf International Chemicals gained 3.61 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 0.75 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively. Al Hassan Engineering, National Aluminium and Al Maha Ceramics declined 10.00 per cent, 2.83 per cent and 2.73 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,618.89 points, down 0.13 per cent. United Power, Omantel and Ooredoo gained 3.95 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Al Maha Petroleum, Al Suwadi Power and Al Jazeera Services decreased 2.40 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
