Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan yesterday patronised over the official launch of the National University of Science and Technology, which comprises three higher education institutions namely the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, the College of Engineering and the College of Pharmacy.
Sayyid Asa’ad hailed the progress made by the education sector in the Sultanate.
He pointed out that Oman University, which is nearing completion, will be an added value for the education march in the Sultanate.
He added that the colleges of the National University of Science and Technology, a private technical university, will be an important addition to the education in the Sultanate.
The National University of Science and Technology will operate through its four branches as the College of Engineering which is in Al Hail South, the College of Medicine in Sohar, the Foundation Centre will be at the Airport Heights and the College of Pharmacy which is in Baushar.
The National University of Science and Technology, which started operation for the academic year 2018/2019, has more than 4,200 students from 33 nationalities.
The launch ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, undersecretaries, members of Majlis Al Shura, businessmen and promoters of the universities.
