Muscat: Indian Social Club (ISC) and Al Yam women’s teams recorded victories in the Gulf Cricket Centre-organised Republic Day of India Al Yam Cricket Cup at Al Ghurah Powerplant Ground during the last weekend.
In the Women’s Cup competition of the tournament, the ISC team defeated GCC squad.
ISC team elected to bat first against GCC and scored 44 for the loss of just one wicket in six overs with Trupti top scoring with 13.
In reply, GCC fell short of their target scoring 32 runs in six overs for the loss of three wickets. Merita and Krishna of ISC took one wicket each.
Usha Adlakha, wife of Indian Embassy Counsellor Rakesh Adlakha, presented the player of the match award to Merita of ISC.
In another Women’s Cup match, Al Yam were too good for Rising Star.
Electing to bat first, Rising Star scored 30 runs for the loss of one wicket in six overs. Shradha topscored with nine runs. Fiza of Al Yam claimed one wicket. In reply, Al Yam achieved their target in fourth over. Heena top scored with 16.
Lateef Shahdad, General Manager of Mass International, presented player of the match award to Fiza of Al Yam.
