Oman’s share index ends higher

Muscat: The MSM30 Index ended positively at 5,002.87 points, up 0.18 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 710.50 points, up 0.19 per cent. Phoenix Power was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. Muscat Thread Mills was the top gainer, up 4.88 per cent, while Al Anwar Ceramics was the top loser, down 2.22 per cent.
A total number of 456 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR1.12 million with 5.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 15 advanced, 8 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, Foreign investors remained net buyers for OMR223,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR114,000 followed by Omani investors for OMR109,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index advanced 0.27 per cent to close at 7,392.03 points. Al Izz Bank, NBO, Ahli Bank, Al Madina Investments and Oman & Emirates Holding increased 2.78 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively. Bank Sohar, Oman Qatar Insurance, Bank Nizwa and HSBC Bank declined 1.91 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended on a flat note at 6,803.34 points, up 0.03 per cent. Muscat Thread Mills, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Fisheries and Oman Cement gained 4.88 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 0.74 per cent and 0.51 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramics, down 2.22 per cent was the sole loser.
Services Index had gains of 0.41 per cent to finish at 2,654.65 points. Phoenix Power, Renaissance Services, Ooredoo and Oman National Engineering gained 2.27 per cent, 1.80 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively. MCDC, Omantel and National Gas declined 1.24 per cent, 0.45 per cent and 0.34 per cent respectively.
