Muscat: The second edition of the Oman Cleaning and Facilities Management (OCFM) Conference & Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Rasheed bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board.
Organised by OITE Trade Fairs, the three-day event themed “Together towards protecting health, facility and environment” will also include an exhibition, workshops and industry visit which will serve as a hubs for further discussion. It was patronised by the Ministry of Manpower, Occupational Safety & Health and Muscat Municipality and supported by the Ministry for Agriculture and Fisheries & Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA)
Conference sessions explore facilities management (FM) updates, business models, service charges and smart tech solutions.
The first day of the conference commenced with a special presentation highlighting mega projects and key updates in facilities management and covered strategies for creating a structured approach to FM in the region, current trends of the country’s FM industry, holistic overviews of the facilities management industry in Oman.
The event will alos focus on emerging business models in FM, the importance of integrated, customer-centric and digitalised energy and facilities management solutions for long-term savings, service charges and life cycle costing, innovations in facilities management technology, the accessibility of inbuilt environments in terms of design & managed team’s responsibilities and waste-to-energy possibilities in Oman.
The first day proceedings culminated in a workshop on ‘Smart Facilities Management’ where the past, present and future of technology that makes facilities smarter was outlined and UI and products that optimise communication within FM teams was explored.
The second day of the conference taking place on Tuesday will identify pest control regulations in Oman and the region, alongside food storage; safety and security and the role played by awareness, training and HSE measures in urban pest management in the country.
Additionally, on the last day of OCFM (Wednesday) the event will see the Middle East Facilities Management Association (MEFMA) conducting a workshop titled the ‘Economic Value Add of Facilities Management in Oman’.
On the same day, the Public Authority for Stores & Food Reserve (PASFR) will also be organising a special one-off industry visit to their warehouse in Rusayl featuring live demos and training on fumigation competency and pesticide usage involved in the preservation and storage of food commodities in warehouses.
