Muscat: An attempt to smuggle alcohol in three boats in Northern Batinah was foiled by the Coast Guard Patrol, reported Royal Oman Police.
According to an official source in the ROP, the boats, with four people onboard, were spotted near Al-Aqar in Wilayat Shinas.
The Nothern Batinah Coast Guard also assisted three people, whose engine was destroyed near the port of Shinas.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard police station in Muscat towed an Omani fishing boat that malfunctioned in Seeb due to engine failure. The four people onboard were rescued and found in a healthy state. On the other hand, the Musandam Coast Guard helped four Omani fishing boats after they broke down at sea. The boats were later towed to the ports of Dibba and Khasab.
ROP calls on all boat owners to regularly maintain their boats, take sufficient fuel and ensure safety and first aid kits are available before going to sea.
