Royal Opera House Muscat to host Palestine Youth Orchestra

Muscat: Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) will host the concert by the Palestinian Youth Orchestra during a late afternoon matinée at 4:30pm on Friday.
In 2012, the Palestine Youth Orchestra was invited to play under the name of “The Palestinian Strings” at the famous Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. On this occasion, a member of the Orchestra commented, “When we perform at Royal Albert Hall, we are first and foremost musicians, but we’re performing as The Palestine Strings, so there is an aspect of national identity. We all feel it’s something that Palestine should be proud of.”
Suppressed nation
The Palestine Youth Orchestra represents self-esteem, unity and the hope for a better future for a nation that has long been suppressed.
The outstanding global success of this special Orchestra amply demonstrates that music can be a force for peace in
the world.
Created in 2004 by the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, the Palestine Youth Orchestra can rightly claim that today it is at par with outstanding national youth orchestras worldwide.
Over the past decade, the Orchestra has performed to acclaim in Palestine, Germany, Jordan, Syria, Bahrain, Lebanon, Greece and Italy.
The Palestinian musicians are joined by young musicians from youth orchestras in the host country.
