Muscat: The Sultanate celebrates February 9 as the Omani Industry Day which commemorates the visit of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to Al Rusayl Industrial Estate in 1991.
Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry will meet at the Sheraton Hotel in Ruwi on February 11 with industrialists to discuss with them the challenges facing industrialists and the needs of the coming stage to increase the contribution of the industrial sector to the GDP and augment the economic growth and development.
The manufacturing sector is one of the initiatives of the national economic diversification programme ‘Tanfeedh’.
During the event, the winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Excellence 2017/2018 alongside with the winners of the previous versions will be honoured.
The Ministry has also allocated an award for the most innovative factory. The Ministry will organise a preparatory seminar for the meeting next Thursday at Sheraton Hotel under the auspices of Eng. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Invitation has been forwarded to industrialists to take part in the seminar and discuss with the undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry the challenges faces the industrial sector and review as well the initial results for the draft new industrial strategy.
