Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), is all set to take part in the 35th edition of the International Fair of Khartoum in Sudan, which will be inaugurated next Monday under the auspices of Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir at the Fair Ground in Buri.
Omar bin Mohamed Muqaibal, Director General of Marketing and Media at PEIE, commented that the participation in the International Fair of Khartoum is the first for PEIE, which comes in line with PEIE’s efforts to explore markets for Omani products.
“The demand for the locally manufactured products is increasing from inside and outside the Sultanate,” he stressed, adding: “PEIE will participate in this event with a pavilion that will include Omani companies representing various industries. We aim at disseminating awareness on the Omani products at the regional and global levels. Taking into consideration that Sudan is a country with a large population likewise the rest of the Nile Basin countries and it provides significant raw materials especially in the agricultural sector; this could benefit the Omani companies that will take part in the exhibition.”
“International Fair of Khartoum will offer a great opportunity for PEIE officials to disseminate awareness among the visitors on the investment opportunities available in the Sultanate in general and the industrial estates in particular. The officials will promote these opportunities, and encourage the localisation of new projects that shall play a role in advancing the national economy.” He added.
“Moreover, the event will witness the participation of a significant number of companies representing various sectors including agricultural machinery and equipment; information technology; energy and mines; building materials; services; medical supplies; consumer goods; and household,” he said.
With more than 20 countries participating at the event, a lineup of events will also be held on the sidelines of the exhibition, including a general trade fair, platform for b2b meetings, seminars and discussion session.
It should be noted that the participation in this exhibition comes as part of Origin Oman Campaign for the year 2018, which aspires at raising awareness on the locally manufactured products and services and their ability to compete locally and abroad simultaneously.
The Origin Oman Campaign is a national initiative designed to encourage consumers and organisations to buy Oman made goods and services, promote national pride in the manufacturing industry and highlight the economic importance of choosing and buying locally manufactured products and services.
