Ministry opens Taqah-Mirbat road for traffic

Salalah: The Ministry of Transport and Communications opened 36 km long dualisation of Taqah-Mirbat road for traffic at a cost about OMR40.5 million.
The service road will connect the residential areas on the road sides.
Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications accompanied by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar visited the project in the presence of Eng. Salim bin Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for Transport and a number of officials.
The 36 km long dualisation of Taqah-Mirbat road project includes 3 bridges, 3 tunnels for vehicles, 11 tunnels for animals, a 150 metre long bridge over Khur Ruri, in addition to two roundabouts.
It should be noted that the Taqah/Mirbat road project will enhance the capacity of the road network, accommodate the continuous growth of traffic activity and meet the needs of the growing tourism, economic and social activities in the Wilayat of Mirbat (which has 181 villages and residential areas) and the Wilayat of Sadah (which has 23 villages). The dual-carriageway is connected to Tawi/Ateer and Wadi Mibrbat road, as well as the road leading to Samahram archaeological site, Ashur and Hasheer roads.
