Sohar: An inspection was carried out by the government officials to assess the environmental observations and propose appropriate solutions for the establishment of sites for quarries activities in Jabal Al Sheikh to activate the follow-up and evaluation of mining activities and to take note of the comments received by the Public Authority for Mining in coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs.
Eng. Hilal bin Mohammed Al Busaidi, CEO of the Public Authority for Mining (PAM) and Najeeb bin Ali Al Rowas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA), paid a joint field visit to Jabal Al Sheikh in the Governorate of North Al Batinah.
These visits are in line with the procedures followed by PAM in regulating of the work of the quarries, represented in the study of areas suitable for exploitation and to identify those areas in preparation for completing the applications with the concerned authorities, and then be licensed to practice mining activities in accordance with the followed procedures in this regard.

PAM monitors and ensures companies by identifying quantities sold and compare them with production reports.
PAM also requires companies operating in the sector to comply with all regulations and laws governing the work, in addition to urging them to comply with environmental requirements according to permits issued by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs.
It is noteworthy that the quarries are working to provide all the needs of the infrastructure of raw materials in the field of construction, both those related to major projects in the infrastructure or other private sector projects, as these quarries contribute significantly to the urban development in the Sultanate, and made significant progress in the country of urban development and infrastructure depending on the work of the quarries deployed in different provinces of the Sultanate.
