Oman Mall to close for emergency drill

Muscat: Residents, employees and visitors to Muscat Grand Mall and the attached residential complex in Boushar will face an emergency evacuation drill to be conducted on Sunday, 31 December, between 9:15 and 11:15 am.

The drill is to ensure that the complex is disaster ready against, fire, gas leaks, earthquakes and other natural calamities, as part of which the electricity will be temporarily cut off, in addition to the entrances and exits of the complex being shut.

“This will involve evacuation of the Muscat Grand Mall, Tilal Offices and Tilal Residences in the Tilal Complex,” said a statement from Tilal Development Company, which owns and runs the mall and residential complex.

“We ask for your full cooperation during the evacuation exercise,” added the statement. “We recognise the exercise may interrupt your schedule and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The evacuation drill is being carried out in cooperation with the Public Authority for Civil Defence (PACDA), Royal Oman Police (ROP), Oman’s Ministry of Health, Petrogas E&P Company, Muscat Electricity Distribution Company and Muscat Municipality.
