Oman shares end lower amid thin trading

Muscat: Trading volumes remained poor and the MSM30 Index declined by 0.33 per cent to close at 5,006.69 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 699.77 points, up by 0.08 per cent. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. National Gas, up by 2.16 per cent was the top gainer while the top loser was Bank Dhofar, down 3.70 per cent.
A total number of 250 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR489,000 with 2.45 million shares changing hands.
Out of 32 traded securities, 10 advanced, 6 declined, and 16 remained unchanged.
Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR21,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR6,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR27,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index retreated 0.48 per cent to close at 7,378.52 points. NBO, Al Sharqia Investments and Taageer Finance gained 1.01 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.86 per cent, respectively. Bank Dhofar, Al Anwar Holding, Al Madina Investments and Oman & Emirates Holding declined by 3.70 per cent, 2.05 per cent, 1.79 per cent, and 1.28 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index closed at 6,673.13 points, up by 0.18 per cent. Oman Flour Mills, Voltamp Energy, Oman Fisheries and Al Jazeera Steel were up 0.89 per cent, 0.71 per cent, 0.71 per cent, and 0.37 per cent, respectively. Galfar Engineering, down by 1.35 per cent, was the sole loser.
Services Index ended at 2,561.62 points, up by 0.14 per cent.
