New e-service for expatriate visas in Oman

Muscat: A new one-day online service will allow employers to transfer expat workers without visiting the Manpower Ministry, officials announced.
“A service enabling the employer to transfer service of a non-Omani worker, who resides in the Sultanate, works with another employer and is registered as (on the job), provided that the new employer has a work permit, with five Rials fees” the ministry announced online.
The employer has to register at the e-services portal and then select the service “Manpower services transfer,” then submit the application. The service alerts the current employer via email and text message of the new services transfer application.
The new system enables the new employer to print the approval form, which includes data of current employer and the new employer, to complete the procedures for issuing the visa from the Royal Oman Police, officials revealed. Company officials are, however, happy with the decision.
“It is a great news as we don’t have to visit the Ministry of Manpower as this is time consuming,” S Gupta, a CEO of a private firm said. Then another manager of a private firm said that the new online service is also aimed at simplifying the procedures.
