Muscat: All parents in Oman should keep an eye on their children to avoid drowning incidents, The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) has said in the wake of severe flooding.
A source from PACDA said: "The drowning accidents are painful and frequent incidents, especially after the creation of the wadis
and water ponds created by the rain.
The authority called on parents to observe their children when going to places near running water and beaches, and keep them away from dangerous places such as drains, ponds and marshes and abide by the regulations that prohibit swimming.
The authority stressed the importance of covering wells and open water tanks to avoid drowning accidents.
The warning comes after a child had died a few days ago when he fell into a drain at Dima wa'Tayeen in Al Sharqiyah.
