Muscat: Oman recently welcomed its first humanoid robot in Muscat that will offer a heart-warming reception to visitors of the Oasis Mall in Al Khuwair.
The celebrated robot is not only programmed to greet guests but to also provide them with directions to shops at the mall, and endless hugs, dance moves and handshakes, among other gestures. The Robot is all set to enrich the time of the guests at the mall into an experiential and thrilling one, while initiating a new era in the retail business sector in Oman.

The four-foot-tall robot has the distinction of being the world’s first social humanoid robot that can recognise faces and basic human emotions.
It is optimised for human interaction and engagement through conversation and inputs through an advanced touch screen.

While announcing the highly anticipated launch, Clive Freeman, Chief Operating Officer of the Landmark Group, said, “The Landmark Group believes in making shopping both enjoyable and rewarding, and for the first time in Oman, a humanoid robot which can read human emotions and respond suitably will be interacting with shoppers.”

The Robot has been launched in the Sultanate by the Dubai-headquartered retail giant, Landmark Group, owners of the Oasis Mall in Al Khuwair, which is one of the Sultanate’s most trendy retail destinations. Designed by the renowned robotics company, SoftBank Robotics, this Robot has generated massive interest across the world owing to its advanced interactive features and ability to recognise faces, gauge human emotions and meaningfully communicate with people.
