Golf: Assarain Golf Classic to be held on November 30

MUSCAT: One of the most prominent golf tournaments of the Sultanate, the Assarain Golf Classic solely sponsored by Assarain Group of Companies will be held at Ghala Golf Club on November 30 and December 1.
The 23rd edition of the event will provide amateur golfers with an official handicap, an opportunity to partake in the largest amateur two-day tournament under professional standards in Oman.
International players have registered to participate in this year’s event from Bahrain and UAE.
Commenting on the 2018 event, Ibrahim Al Wahaibi, Managing Director of Assarain Group of Companies said, "Assarain Group of Companies are committed each year to adding towards the success of the Assarain Golf Classic and growing the game in Oman. We are creating an environment for amateurs to play the golf under professional conditions. I am also pleased with the inclusion of the juniors as part of the junior team selection process for the Oman Golf Committee. Another positive note is that the event was full within 10 days of opening the registration.”
Open to men, ladies and juniors, the Assarain Golf Classic 2018 is a highly awaited tournament by the entire golfing community in Oman. The two-day stroke tournament will witness the gathering of golfers of various handicaps, who will be vying to win the top accolade of the evening.
Leon Sassen, General Manager of Golf World commented, “It’s a pleasure to be managing the 2018 Assarian Golf Classic again, this is Golf Worlds sixth year managing the event and I always look forward to this tournament. It gives each player a chance to participate under professional standards and to test local and international top players. I am pleased that the junior national team players will be competing at this year's event to earn selection for the upcoming GCC Championship which will be played at Ghala next month. “It will certainly be an exciting tournament this year.”
A total number of 140 golfers have registered this year for the tournament. The closing ceremony will be held to congratulate the 2018 Assarain Golf Classic Champion.
