Muscat: General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office, received in his office yesterday General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the British Army, within the framework of his current visit to the Sultanate.
Gen. Al Nu’amani welcomed the guest who expressed his delight on this visit, which comes within the framework of the keenness being accorded by the governments of the two countries to enhance cooperation between the Sultanate and the United Kingdom (UK). The two sides exchanged cordial conversations. They also reviewed the good bilateral relations binding the two countries in all fields and means of promoting them to achieve the joint interests.
The meeting also touched on several matters of common concern. The meeting was attended by Maj.Gen Mattar bin Salim Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), the UK Ambassador to the Sultanate and the delegation accompanying the guest.
Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs received in his office at Mu’askar Bait Al Falaj Gen Carter.
The meeting reviewed fields of the military cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The meeting discussed the preparations for Exercise Al Saif Al Sareea (Swift Sword 3) between the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the British Army as the two sides reviewed work of the joint committees, which is progressing as planned.
