New facility for ship repair opened at Dubai Maritime City

Muscat: Albwardy Damen, a joint venture providing shipbuilding and ship repair services to the marine and oil and gas related industries in the Middle East, recently officially inaugurated its new facility at the Dubai Maritime City (DMC).
Approximately 100 attendees were present at the event from both government and key industry makers such as Dubai Maritime City and Dubai Maritime City Authority.
The new opening also comes at the time of their 40th anniversary celebrations in the UAE along with its 10th anniversary for a successful joint venture with the Dutch shipyards “Damen”.
Well-known as a leading shipbuilding and repair service provider for the Middle East Maritime Industry, Albwardy Damen operates in Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah; driven by its commitment to achieving excellence through abiding by technical and environmental standards.
With an aim to increase its operations and foster strong relations with clients, the company has expanded to Dubai Maritime City (DMC) from Al Jadaf. The new facility became recently operational allowing it to deliver the same safety standards and quality services promised to customers.

With a move to Dubai Maritime City (DMC) from Al Jadaf, Albwardy Damen anticipates an increase in operations and is optimistic of opportunities to foster strong relations with new clients Lars Seistrup, Managing Director, Albwardy Damen explained, “Our new Dubai facility will allow us to deliver the same safety and quality as in our Sharjah yard. Dubai Maritime City is strategically located at heart of Dubai which makes it the most attractive destination and we will deliver a second to none service to our customers.”

The company has a total workforce of around 1,100 comprising of 26 different nationalities and harbors key competencies in house, with an extensive engineering division dedicated for repairing and building vessels according to the highest technical and environmental standards.
