Japan embassy in Oman marks National Day

Muscat: The Japanese Embassy in Oman celebrated the east Asian country’s National Day on Tuesday.
The Japanese National Day marks the birthday of Emperor of Japan Akihito. Though the Emperor’s 84th birthday is on December 23, it was celebrated in advance by the Japanese embassy officials.
Mitsugu Saito, Japanese Ambassador to Oman, welcomed the dignitaries with a speech and to the surprise of everyone attending the event, with a magic trick.
The ambassador mentioned the long and productive relationship between Oman and Japan.
“This year also marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Sultanate of Oman, which has witnessed continuous development over the years. As Japan’s ambassador to Oman, I am determined to make utmost efforts to enhance our relations in various fields,” said Saito.
The ambassador thanked His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his “significant contribution to the peace and stability in the region” and wished him good health. He also thanked the people of Oman for their support.
The guests were treated to sushi made by famous chef Takhashi. Japanese delicacies such as Kobe and Wagyu beef were also part of the menu. Besides this, many other varieties of food were available.
