Muscat: The Minister of Transport and Communications, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, will be the guest of honour at the official opening of the OAMC-hosted ACI Airport Exchange – Airports Council International’s biggest annual trade show at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre from December 5-7.

It will be one of the first major global events to be held in Muscat’s brand new facilities (supported by exclusive media partner the Times of Oman).

ACI is an international trade association of 1,940 airports, with Sheikh Aimen Ahmed Al Hosni, OAMC’s chief executive officer (CEO), serving on its Governing Board.

Inspection

More than 1,000 senior airport executives from 350 organisations across the world are registered to attend the event, during which a close examination of the new world-class facilities at the Muscat International Airport will take the centre stage.

Some 120 expert speakers from around the world are taking part, including airport CEOs from Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Amman, Qatar, Delhi and Istanbul, led by OAMC CEO Al Hosni.

The centrepiece of the exhibition will be a 200-square-metre OAMC pavilion, which will showcase exhibits by Oman Air, SalamAir and the Public Authority for Civil Aviation. The exhibition itself will include several partners and suppliers of OAMC and the new Muscat International Airport, including ADB Safegate (airfield lighting and traffic management), Everbridge (cloud-based critical communications), ieon/NCR (private cloud-based infrastructure), Munich Airport International (operational readiness testing), Thyssenkrupp airport systems (passenger boarding bridges), Be Relax (airport spa), KONE (elevators and escalators), Malayasia Airports Consultancy Services (staff training programmes), Poltrona Frau (airport seating) and TAV Operation Services (private passenger lounge).

The event provides a unique opportunity for local Omani businesses to become involved in the airport business, both in Oman and elsewhere. Interested businesses can register to attend the exhibition free of charge.
