Muscat bourse recovers on retail support

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse firmed up on support from retail investors. MSM30 index closed on a flat note at 5,078.03 points, marginally up by 0.02 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 724.78 points, down by 0.27 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of volume while Oman Fisheries was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Oman Qatari Insurance up by 4.83 per cent while the top loser was Raysut Cement with a loss of 4.21 per cent.
A total number of 607 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating a turnover of OMR2.15 million with 12.12 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 15 advanced, 4 declined, and 19 remained unchanged. Regional investors were net buyers for OMR133,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR36,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR169,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was up by 0.02 per cent to close at 7,371.88 points. Oman Qatar Insurance, Vision Insurance, National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat increased by 4.83 per cent, 2.84 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index ended at 6,707.03 points, down by 0.02 per cent. Oman Flour Mills, Oman Fisheries, Gulf International Chemicals and Galfar Engineering increased by 3.21 per cent, 2.36 per cent, 1.44 per cent and 1.28 per cent, respectively. Raysut Cement and Oman Cables declined by 4.21 per cent and 3.25 per cent, respectively.
Services Index was marginally up by 0.07 per cent to close at 2,566.17 points. OIFC was the only gainer and was up by 0.73 per cent to close at OMR0.138. Phoenix Power and Omantel declined by 1.13 per cent and 0.41 per cent, respectively.
