Muscat: A delegation representing the Arab Union for Industrial Exports Development visited the headquarters of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat on Tuesday.
Received by Omar bin Mohamed Muqaibal, Director General of Marketing and Media at PEIE, the delegation was acquainted with the industrial estates that fall under the umbrella of PEIE, and the incentives and facilities offered to local and foreign investors.
The delegates were also briefed about the vision of PEIE, which is to enhance the Sultanate’s position as a leading regional centre of manufacturing, information and communication technology (ICT), innovation and entrepreneurship excellence, as well as its mission to attract industrial investments and provide continued support through regionally and globally competitive strategies, good infrastructure, value-added services and easy governmental processes.
Moreover, its officials highlighted the objectives of PEIE, which included attracting foreign investments to the Sultanate and localising the national capital, as well as contributing to stimulating the private sector to achieve sustainable economic and social development.
The PEIE objectives also included strengthening the relations with the authorities concerned to ensure the overflow of investment process and overcome any obstacles faced by the investors; reinforcing cooperation with related international and regional organisations to boost the exchange of experience, knowledge and techniques; developing employees’ skills and performance through a set of training programmes; contributing to creating new job opportunities; encouraging exports and the establishment of export industries, as well as increasing the market share of locally manufactured products; and stimulating the economic sectors in the Sultanate, including transport, tourism and banking, among others .
Besides these, the delegates were briefed about the role played by the Knowledge Oasis Muscat to develop an ideal environment for the growth and prosperity of companies specialised in the field of information and communication technology in the Sultanate.
