Muscat bourse ends on a flat note

Muscat: Shares on the Muscat bourse remained intact and the MSM30 Index ended on a flat note to close at 5,078.55 points. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 732.98 points, up by 0.01 per cent. Al Madina Takaful was the most active regarding volume as well as turnover. The top gainer was Al Batinah Development, up by 4.65 per cent while the top loser was Oman Fisheries, with a loss of 3.73 per cent.
A total number of 942 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating a turnover of OMR2.41 million with 17.10 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 12 advanced, 12 declined, and 12 remained unchanged. Local investors remained net buyers for OMR365,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR297,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors for OMR67,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index advanced 0.24 per cent to close at 7,388.71 points. Al Batinah Development, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Madina Investment and Bank Muscat increased by 4.65 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 1.69 per cent and 0.98 per cent, respectively. Sharqiya Investment, Al Anwar Holding, and Bank Sohar fell by 1.75 per cent, 0.68 per cent, and 0.63 per cent, respectively.
Industry Index ended at 6,873.29 points, down by 0.17 per cent. Anwar Ceramic and Gulf International Chemicals increased by 2.25 per cent and 0.97 per cent, respectively. Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium and Galfar Engineering declined by 3.73 per cent, 2.94 per cent and 2.41 per cent, respectively.
Services Index fell by 0.13 per cent to close at 2,545.31 points. Suwadi Power, Renaissance Services and Oreedoo Oman increased by 1.38 per cent, 0.92 per cent, and 0.38 per cent, respectively. Jazeira Services, OIFC, and Omantel declined by 3.4 per cent, 2.01 per cent and 1.13 per cent sequentially.
