Economic human rights, intellectual property discussed at Omani legal meet

Muscat: Status of economic human rights in the Sultanate and the respect for intellectual property were the main issues discussed at a legal conference on Monday.
The discussion came during the second Omani Legal conference, which was opened at Sondus Rotana Hotel, under the sponsorship of His Highness Sayyid Fihr bin Fatik bin Fihr Al Said. The organisation of the conference coincides with the 21st anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law of the State.
The conference, organised by Law and Life LLC in collaboration with a number of relevant public stakeholders, discussed the principles of the Basic Statutes in general and the economic rights in particular.
The need for more efforts to be made to accelerate economic diversification, promote innovation, create more job opportunities and achieve sustainable development were highlighted.
The conference focuses mainly on the concept of economic human rights and how this has been integrated in the Basic Law of the State. The second theme was protection of intellectual property rights and its importance for any economic activity.
The conference is associated with two interactive cycles, the first is leading project right and the second the practical applications of intellectual property rights projection’s legislations.
During the conference, ‘Entrepreneurs Legislations Manual’ authored by Maimona bint Said Al Sulaimaniyah, Lawyer and founder of Law and Life LLC was launched. The manual introduces legal information on doing business in simple way that easy to understand by business practitioners.
