Oman, Armenia to boost higher education and scientific research ties

Muscat: Dr. Rawiya bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education, met on Sunday with Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Armin Babikian and his accompanying delegation.
Dr. Al Busaidiyah stressed the importance of this visit in increasing cooperation in the higher education sector and scientific research between the Sultanate and the Republic of Armenia.
She reviewed the stages of the development of the higher education sector in the Sultanate and the attention given by the Omani government to the education sector as a cornerstone for human development, which is at the heart of the country's development plans.
She also provided an overview of the external scholarship and its programmes and the importance of the scholarships programmes to provide the country with qualified Omani staff.
The Armenian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs presented an overview of higher education in the Republic of Armenia. He reviewed the most important Armenian universities and the programs and specialisations they offer, pointing out the interest of the Armenian side in opening cooperation opportunities with the educational institutions in the Sultanate in exchange programs and teaching Arabic to Armenian students.
He spoke about the possibility of cooperation with the Omani side in sending Omani students in medicine, in addition to other disciplines, such as physics and mathematics in the future, in addition to inviting academics and higher education professionals to visit Armenia and learn more about the higher education in Armenia.
