OMR1.75m deal for construction of new fish market in Oman signed by Ministry of Commerce and Industry

Muscat: An agreement for the construction of an OMR1.75 million fish market in the wilayat of Al Seeb has been signed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with Arabian Supplies and Contracting LLC.
The agreement for the fish market, which will be constructed at the fishing marina in the wilayat, was signed by Dr. Fouad bin Jaafar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and the general manager of the contracting company.
The ground floor of the market which will stretch over 7,040 square metres, will be about 4,800 square metres and the first floor will be on 3,400 square metres.
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries pointed out in a statement that this market will be built as per world class standards for the use of 2,032 fishermen who produce 620 tonnes of fish per annum, worth of more than OMR6 million.
The new fish market, to be constructed during a year, will include 12 retail shops, a factory for ice, 64 tables for fish display, 37 tables for fish cutting, a restaurant for sea food, a coffee shop and other services.
The market will be provided with central A/C. The tourism land plots (more than 16,000 metres) of the market will be soon offered for investment.
The fish market in Al Seeb is one of the utilities of the fishing marina. It will cater the needs of the fishermen in the wilayat of Al Seeb and other coastal wilayats. The market is expected to enhance tourism activity in the wilaya.
