Muscat: History repeats itself, they say. Has Oman found its own Sachin Tendulkar? Well, only time will tell us if it has. A schoolboy in Oman has created history by scoring a whopping 235 not out in an Under-16 League match at Muscat Municipality Ground 1.
According to information received from Oman Cricket, Rushil Dadwal, opening the innings for Bosher Olympic Center (BOC), carried the bat in a 30-over game against MCCC B, hitting as many as 35 boundaries in his marathon knock that reminded everyone of 15-year-old Sachin Tendulkar’s magical innings of 329 in 1988. Tendulkar made his Test debut a year later and went on to become the most successful batsman in the game’s history.
Rushil’s incredible knock lifted his side’s total to 347 for two in 30 overs. He got good company in fellow opener Vansh Boglar, who was happy enjoying his partner’s historic day in the middle from the non-striker’s end.
When Boglar was dismissed for 74, even he may have been surprised to note his team’s total towering at 252 for one.
Facing a mountain to climb, MCCC B were jolted by another special performance from a BOC boy, Sidddhant Gavankar, who bowled beautifully with the new ball, taking six wickets to ruin their hopes of a decent chase. In the end, 110 and a nightmare in a broad daylight was all MCCC B could carry home.
The schoolboys, Rushil and Siddhant, were immediately feted by Oman Cricket as Kanak Khimji, OC Chairman, and Madhu Jesrani, Secretary, congratulated them on their outstanding performance and wished them all the very best for their future.
Brief scores: BOC 347 for 2 in 30 overs (Rushil Dadwal 235 n.o., Vansh Boglar 74) bt MCCC B 110 all out in 27.2 overs (Ishaan Ahuja 28, Siddhant Gavankar 6/20, Shreya Dhuri 2/13, Akshaj 2/22).
