Muscat: Two players from Oman women’s team recently had the opportunity to train under the tutelage of the very best in the business and hone their skills to a whole new level.
Oman women’s team captain Vaishali Jesrani and her teammate Wanshika Avasthi were among a handful of players who attended various coaching sessions conducted by Indian star all-rounder Jhulan Goswami and Indian women’s national team coach Tushar Arothe at G Force Cricket Academy in Dubai.
The Indian stars spent quality time with nearly 30 budding cricketers, both boys and girls, attending the coaching sessions, working on each player’s technique, temperament and batting, bowling and fielding skills.
Various cricket drills were conducted in all areas of the game including running between the wickets, wicket-keeping and fitness with a combination of net sessions and open practice provided to all participants.
To test the players in a match situation, a T20 game was also played between boys and girls.The girls’ team was monitored by Jhulan while Tushar observed the boys’ team.
Guiding each player, both Jhulan and Tushar conducted group training as well as one to one sessions for the registered participants in order to improve their skills.
Strongly supported by her parents, Vanshika Awasthi, student of Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir, was the only young girl from Oman to be a part of the special training and coaching sessions under Jhulan and Tushar. Having received invaluable tips and training, she has certainly returned richer in class and experience.
In the end, the Indian national stars gave away certificates to all the participants, sharing inspiring words with players.
