More jobs for Omanis as 98 new buses set to join Mwasalat's fleet

Muscat: Ninety-eight new buses will join the Mwasalat fleet from December 2017, the national bus operator announced on Monday.
“These buses, in phases, will continue until August 2018,” the national operator said after signing agreements on Monday.
The bus operator also said the purchase will create 320 jobs for Omanis. The buses will cost more than OMR11.677 million.
Mwasalat had extended its city routes until midnight from October 20. The city routes—Mabela-Ruwi, Ruwi-Muttrah, Muscat-Ruwi-Amerat and Ruwi-Wadi Kabir—are now available from 6 am to midnight.
The extended timings are helping everyone use public transport buses over a longer period of time. “The new move is based on public feedback for the need to extend the timings,” said the company.
Mwasalat operates several routes in Muscat, along with services to various governorates, as well as a line connecting Dubai. “We just had eight buses in Muscat prior to November 2015. But now, we have buses connecting every part of Muscat. Besides that, we created lot of jobs,” an official from Mwasalat had said earlier.
