Fifth Omani Dates Festival kicks off in Nizwa

Nizwa: Fifth Omani Dates Festival was inaugurated on Wednesday in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Governorate of A'Dakhiliyah, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Qatabi, State Advisor, in the presence of Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Al Sajawani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The seven-day festival is organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in cooperation with the Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises (Riyada).
Eng. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Abri, Director General of Agriculture Development at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, said that the festival includes 60 sale outlets for small and medium enterprises and farmers, a corner for 12 projects in dates marketing identity design, a corner to display the art works participating in the drawing contest ''My Date Palm" which aims at school students in some governorates, in addition to the exhibition of companies engaged in the supply of machines, packaging, packing and steaming of dates, as well as workshops on the prospects of manufacturing and marketing Omani dates.
The aim of the festival is to introduce Omani dates and their types in an excellent environment that are targeted by those interested in this sector to create greater opportunities for the consumer to choose from the options offered by the institutions involved in the manufacturing and production of dates, as well as to encourage farmers and producers to take care of product quality and packaging.
