U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson lands in New Delhi on a mission to strenghten ties with India in the face of China's rising power in the region.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, on a tour of Asia and the Middle East, arrived in the Indian capital New Delhi on Tuesday (October 24).
Tillerson is scheduled to hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, which will be followed by a joint news conference in New Delhi on Wednesday (October 25).
He will also meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.
The U.S. Secretary of State's visit to India is a part of a six-day tour that includes Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Switzerland.
Before his visit to India, Tillerson had said that the Trump administration wanted to "dramatically deepen" cooperation with New Delhi, seeing it as a key partner in the face of China's growing influence in Asia.
