Get a taste of Oman's culture during National Day holidays with these events

Muscat: The Ministry of Tourism will be organising various events in a number of Wilayats across Oman during the 48th National Day holidays.
The Department of Tourism of South Al Sharqiyah governorate will start by organising a tourism forum in Fort Sinisla in the Wilayat of Sur between November 19 and 24. In North Al Batinah, the Qaffar Al Shimal event, which will begin from the fort, will be organised on November 23. While the Al Qawafil forum will be organised on November 24 and will start near the department of tourism in North Al Batinah governorate.
Three tourism caravans will organised on November 23. The caravan will start near the Sohar Fort at 8 am and pass through various villages, mountain tracks, and wadis of the Wilayat of Sohar to reach Shinas. About 48 cars will participate in the event.
The Sindbad tour will be a sea caravan, which will start at 3 pm on November 26, from the fishing anchor in Sohar in the direction of the Sohar industrial port and will return to the same point. This tour includes sailing and a discussion about the marine commerce in Sohar and the old Silk Road.
Another activity — Nuzhat Al Shimal or walk of the north — will be organised on November 24. Women will participate in this event, where they will start walking at 9 am from North Batinah’s tourism department towards wadi Al Hilti, village of Halahil Bani Ghaith. They will walk through mountain tracks and agricultural areas to the end of the village. Meanwhile, another forum will be organised on Mussandam’s Bassah beach on November 26 and 27.
The Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar Governorate will organise the celebrations of the 48th National Day at the fort of Mirbat on November 29 and 30. The celebrations will also be organised on November 23 at Al Naseem Park in Barka and on November 29, 30 in Bait Al Ghashsham museum.
The Ministry of Tourism is working to promote popular folk arts and activities as part of cultural tourism. The director of promotions at the Directorate General of Tourism in Dhofar Governorate said that several of these activities include heritage, cultural, and entertainment events such as horse races, folk dances, competitions for adults and children, henna art, face painting, traditional games, cartoon creation and other entertainment games.
Saud Al Alawi, director of the tourism in South Al Sharqiyah governorate, said that the Department of Tourism will also organise a tourism forum in cooperation with the Omani Women Associations as well as a forum of women entrepreneurs between November 19 and 24. The activities and cultural events of this forum include visiting a heritage tourism village. An entire camp will be set up to promote products of the families and small and medium enterprises involved.
