Cricket: Muscat Municipality tournament enters knockout stage

MUSCAT: With the completion of the Round of 16 which was held during the weekend, eight teams have now booked their place in the knockout stage of the Third Muscat Municipality Cricket Tournament, organised in cooperation with Oman Cricket Club.
The teams that have qualified for the next round will face off on November 30 at the Al Qurum Natural Park.
In the 16 matches that were held D.G of Muscat Municipality of Transport beat their peers Estates Administration while, Muscat Municipality of Bausher downed Grand Mutrah.
Michael XI defeated HCC and Raheel trounced Golden Lions.
Sumaik beat Technical Affairs Directorate of Muscat Municipality in a low scoring match, while Bausher Cricket Club defeated the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality.
Asfandyar beat United Mangalore Fighters by three runs, while Smile got the better of Muscat Steel.
It is worth mentioning that 32 clubs have participated in this tournament, including 10 teams from Muscat Municipality, six Omani teams, and 16 expatriate teams belonging to companies and institutions from the private sector.
The teams were divided into two groups, comprising 16 teams. Through this tournament, Muscat Municipality hopes to achieve the highest level of participation in the tournament and to take care of the physical activity of its employees. Furthermore to acquire the necessary physical skills, and to strengthen the roles of institutions and companies in the framework of community partnership with the municipality.
