The Muscat Communications Centre at the General Directorate for Service Development in Muscat Municipality is one of the main services provided by the municipality, which receives complaints and suggestions.
“It also acts as a mediator to ensure a better community outreach regarding complaints, notices and proposals. Customers can call the toll free number 1111 to follow the required steps and report the situation. This in return ensures better municipal work and eases the burden for the public,” officials said.
During the first half of this year, the Muscat Telecommunications Centre received a total of 49,227 incoming calls, of which 45,954 were answered.
Most complaints recorded were related to lighting issues and spread of insects and environmental waste.
The Muscat Communications Centre offers a link to the beneficiaries of the Muscat Municipality services through various channels besides the free telephone service (1111).
This enables the beneficiary to know the status of some transactions, the status of complaint and the procedures and documents required for the most important services.
An interactive telephone service is also available to talk to the staff working at the Muscat Call Centre and give them feedback, complaints or inquiries, as well as the voice mail they can use if lines are busy.
The caller can leave his notes to be communicated later by staff.
In addition to the free calling service, an e-mail service is also available. The user can send emails to [email protected] for the required service.
A fax service is also available, which is associated with the toll free phone number (1111), as well as a web page on the municipality’s website and a smart phone application.
This reflects the deep interest in opening electronic sharing windows with the community and the municipality’s efforts to keep in line with modern technologies.
Due to these services, the Muscat Municipality has been won award for the best governmental practice in the field of electronic participation.
