Muscat: With more than 200 participants, the project ‘Luxmyrious bathtub’ by Al Reyan Ansari, has been awarded the first prize of the 1st edition of the One Day Design Challenge by Roca celebrated recently at KR Infra Campus, Ghala.
The competition was an ideal opportunity for Oman's best design and architectural minds to prove the ability to work against the clock as well as an innovative proposal for the bathroom space that complies with the description of the briefing revealed at the start of the event.
The concept that all participants in Oman have needed to follow has been an answer to their own understanding of luxury, proposing a concept that includes new features and functions, usability, installation, technology and materials.
This year, the competition reaches Oman with the support of its partner Khimji Ramdas Infrastructure Group. “We always aspire to bring to Oman all that is new in products, technology and service in partnership with world’s leading companies. Roca is a global brand recognised for designing and developing products that are focused on saving water and we are very proud to be representing it. Thanks to our customers, and the innovative products they offer, we are now leaders in the bathroom spaces solutions in Oman,” N. S. Vijaya Kumar, CEO, KR Infrastructure Group, commented on the challenge.
Out of the 76 submitted projects, ‘Luxmyrious bathtub’ by Al-Reyan Ansari was the winner, obtaining the OMR600 prize.
“The idea of luxury is illustrated beautifully in the sleekness of the design and the ambience created,” explained Maryam Al Balushi, architect/proposal manager at F&M Middle East Engineering Consultancy (AIA) and member of the jury.
The jury made up by Anthony Coyle, Dip. Arch (Mack); Nadia Maqbool, Architect RIBA ARB, Director at 23 Degrees North; Maryam Al Balushi; UmairHyder, Lead Architect RIBA ARB at CPEC Architectural & Engineering Consultancy, and Xavier Torras, Brand Communication Director of Roca, awarded the second and third prizes to ‘The Air Luxury’ by Ameer Nauh and Esraa Muhammed and ‘Smart Bath’ by Siham Jasnak, Jawahar Al Hasim and Uraiba Iqbal respectively, worth OMR400 and OMR200.
