Muscat: Mars Hypermarket in Al Khuwair organised Filipino Food Festival and cooking contest, Al Khuwair recently. The event introduced and showcased the wealth and range of products coming from the Philippines into the local market.
As a part of the food festival, a cooking competition was also held encouraging Filipinos to participate and win amazing prizes.
Ponciano M Ligutom, Ceso III, the Labour Attaché of Philippines Embassy was the chief guest for the event, Unnikrishna Pillai, general manager and other senior management staff of Mars hypermarket. Jonelmenor won the first prize for the delicious ‘Chicken Adobo’ he made, Anna Marie Abaya was the second prize winner for the preparation of ‘Ube Halaya’ and Angel Noya bagged the third prize for the dish ‘Palabok’. A panel including the chef from Queens Restaurant and eminent personalities from the Filipino community judged this event.
During the event, the chief guest as well as others present were treated to an array of Filipino dishes and delicacies. A range of Filipino fruits such as banana, pineapple, turnips, avocado, were also displayed.
The Filipino public who gathered for the event expressed their appreciation to Mars Hypermarket for organising the food festival. They said that it was heartwarming to see the interest and enthusiasm of the Omanis and other foreigners towards Filipino products in general, and the various dishes and delicacies that were prepared in particular, for this special event. This festival offered numerous opportunities to get a taste of authentic Filipino cuisine to the public.
