Muscat: The Dean of Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE), Dr Ahmed Hassan Al Bulushi and Dr Kiran G. R., Dean of Middle East College (MEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the CCE campus recently witnessed by key staff members of both institutions. The MoU will facilitate the two institutions to benchmarking their educational activities.
Benchmarking is considered a useful tool for enhancing the quality of education and services among higher education institutions. CCE has actively come forward with plans to collaborate with other HEIs at national and international levels. This MoU is to stimulate a comprehensive benchmarking activity, both in academic and administrative areas between CCE and MEC. The main purpose of this activity is sharing good practices, improving the quality and standards of education, research, associated academic activities, and projects. The duration of this activity is 2 years but can be extended subject to consensus of the two institutions.
Speaking about the significance of this event, Dr Al Bulushi commented that the benchmarking activity is a pathway to a much wider academic collaboration between the two institutions, for research, training, workshops and student activities. Dr Kiran added that benchmarking activity is important not only to the two institutions but also to the higher education sector in Oman. Sharing good practices among HEIs in Oman leading to quality enhancement is a harbinger to enhancing students’ learning experience. The academic collaboration between MEC and CCE would set an example for other HEIs in Oman.
