Oman's peace initiatives praised by Nepal

Muscat: Oman’s role in supporting peace has been praised by Nepal.
Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Nepali Prime Minister hailed the wise policy being pursued by the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, as well as its role in supporting peace and stability at the regional and international levels. He also expressed thanks of the Nepali Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation to the Sultanate; its Government and people for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to them.
During the press conference held at the Grand Hyatt Muscat this evening, he said that the visit of the Prime Minister of Nepal to the Sultanate comes to mark the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. He also affirmed the strong bilateral relations binding the two countries on various levels.
Further, he pointed out that the talks conducted by the Prime Minister of Nepal with His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers were “fruitful”.
He affirmed that the two countries attach a joint interest to promote various aspects of existing cooperation in several areas.
On his turn, Shanker Das Bairagi, Foreign Secretary of Nepal considered signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two sides on political consultations “an important platform” that will open new avenues of cooperation between the two friendly countries.
He added that the Sultanate and Nepal seek to sign new agreements to regularise recruitment of Nepali workforce in the Sultanate. He pointed out that both countries explore opportunities and potentials available to serve the interests of both sides. He called on Omani investors to invest in Nepal and benefit from incentives and facilities offered by his country’s government.
The press conference was attended by Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, Nepali Ambassador appointed to the Sultanate, as well as local and Nepali media means.

MoU signed
The Sultanate and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on political Consultations between the two countries at the Grand Hyatt Muscat Hotel.
Sheikh Hilal bin Marhoon Al Ma'amari, Head of West Asia Department, Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, appointed Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to the Sultanate, signed the MoU.
The signing of the MoU comes with the aim of enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields and exchanging views of mutual interest at the diplomatic and economic levels.
