Verona: Many of Oman’s leading stone and marble producers are exhibiting their products at Marmomacc International Trade Fair for Stone, Design and Technology, which kicked-off yesterday in Verona, Italy.
Led by Ithraa, Oman’s investment promotion and export development agency, eight Omani firms joined stone and marble industry exhibitors from over 146 countries for the four-day international trade fair.
Saif Al Mamari, Ithraa’s Export Development Director said: “With 1,600 plus exhibitors attracting more than 67,000 visitors from 146 countries this is one of the world’s most important trade shows. It offers Omani firms international exposure and business networking opportunities. Indeed, we have had a pavilion at Marmomacc for several years and it’s an event that’s always delivered strong commercial returns for participating local companies.”
Oman has large marble, gypsum, limestone, laterite, chromite and kaolin deposits, and the mining and mineral sector has experienced significant growth over the past few years. A key driver is the construction sector, which despite recent global economic circumstances, looks healthy. An increase in spending on national infrastructure and real estate investment in China and the US, as well as anticipated fiscal easing in America is helping boost the construction industry in these regions and their demand for high-quality marble and natural stone.
Omani companies exhibiting this week in Verona include Jalal International; Hamood Al Rashidi & Brothers Trading Company; Gulf Stone Company; Al Ajmi Marble; Al Nasr Trading & Contracting; Services & Trade Marble; Al Asriyah Marble Company; and Al Shanfari Marble Company.
“We fully expect our pavilion to be busy this week and for business to be brisk. The eight Omani firms will be displaying their products and meeting buyers, architects, distributors and designers,” explained Al Mamari.
He went on to add: “We are in Verona to build on the great results we achieved at last year’s show. It is all about getting our name out, increasing market share and winning new business. It’s going to be a busy week for everyone on the Omani pavilion. Exciting times ahead.”
