Muscat: A meeting was held by the steering committee of the tourism sector for regularising adventure tourism in the Sultanate.
The team reviewed the progress on adventure tourism in the Sultanate.
It will develop an executive plan for the initiative and will issue a manual for the management of safety system. It will also develop and publish a manual on wadi adventure tourism.
The Committee reviewed the performance indicators and the progress made in the sector's indices.
The meeting comes within the efforts made by the action team which comprises public and private organisations to implement the initiatives in the pre-set timeframe.
The initiative aims at developing the necessary requirements for systems for regularising the sector and linking with international organisations to promote for the Sultanate as a destination for many adventure tourism activities.
The meeting also reviewed the New Zealand experience in adventure tourism, developing statistics and indicators on adventure tourism in the Sultanate and cooperation with New Zealand specialists to develop adventure tourism in the Sultanate.
The steering committee for the tourism sector held its 10th meeting under the chair of Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrzi, Minister of Tourism.
The meeting also discussed the progress made in the initiatives to establish Oman Tourism and Conference Office.
