Oman's Council, Shura review national urban development alternatives

Muscat: The State Council and Majlis Al Shura hosted yesterday the Office of the National Strategy for Urban Development at the Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning to review the strategy titled ‘Strategic Alternatives on the National Level’ at the State Council in Al Bustan’.
Dr. Khalid bin Salim Al Saeedi, Secretary General of the State Council delivered a speech where he pointed out that the hosting of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura of officials from the different state organisations aims at providing them with the opportunity to shed light on their activities and achievements, as well as their current and future programmes.
It comes within the approach of the State Council and Majlis Al Shura towards the comprehensive development process witnessed by the Sultanate in all fields.
The meeting included a presentation on the latest developments and future stages of the project. The presentation also covered current challenges facing urban construction in the Sultanate and the need to keep pace with the world developmental changes. The presentation also covered the key outputs and themes of the construction strategy, which are in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, such as sustainable urban planning, achieving economic growth, environment protection and acclimatisation with climate changes, in addition to shifting towards a sustainable transport system and effective infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Council, members of Majlis Al Shura and officials from the Supreme Council for Planning.
