British Royal Air Force Loan Service personnel held their annual Battle of Britain Ball, at the Shangri-La Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa. More than 450 sponsors and guests enjoyed an evening of fine food and superb entertainment in the magnificent Ballroom at the Shangri-La Resort, set against the backdrop of the famous Second World War air battle. The Ball, held every September, opens the Muscat ball season and raises in excess of OMR10,000 for charities in both Oman and the United Kingdom. This year the Senior British Loan Service Officer(RAF), Group Captain Toby Casebury-Craig, was delighted to host as his senior guests Air Vice Marshal Matar Al Obaidani, the Commander of the Air Force of Oman, and Hamish Cowell, the British Ambassador to Oman. Next year the British Royal Air Force celebrates 100 years since its formation in April 1918.
