Muscat: Heavy rainfall over the weekend led to a number of flooded wadis around the Sultanate, the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources announced.
Based on measurements taken, the Wilayat of Dhank recorded the highest percentage of rainfall, it said. “The rainfall is a result of local clouds, from the September 7 to 9 which led to the outpouring of a number of Wadis,” it said.
The Wilayat Dhank of received 53mm of rainfall, which was the highest in the Sultanate.
Al Buraimi experienced the second highest level of rainfall with 36mm.
It was followed by 34mm in Al Madha, according to the ministry report.
Rainfall led to overflow of wadis such as Wadi Masala in the Wilayat of Bahla, Wadi Sima and Msadood in Izki, Wadi Al Masalah in Nizwa and Wadi Shamaa in Al Hamra.
