Muscat: Coastguard officers carried out search and rescue operations for two sailors, according to the Royal Oman Police.
"On Wednesday, September 6, 2017, a coastguard boat carried out a search and rescue operation for two citizens whose boat's engine had malfunctioned while they were on a fishing trip. The boat was found in Musannah and towed to the coast of Suwaiq," ROP said in a report.
Additionally, a police boat towed another boat to Bandar Al Rawdah on Tuesday evening, after it crashed near the Al Fahal area in Muscat Governorate with five citizens on board.
"Last month, 18 search and rescue operations were carried out by the coastguard," a source in ROP had earlier said.
The ROP called on fishermen to "take precautions such as ensuring that the safety tools are available in the boats, checking the engine and maintain regular maintenance, checking fuel efficiency, navigation lights, additional ropes, and ensuring that there are no cracks inside or outside the boat that would allow water to leak through," the source added.
