OmanPride: Eid is a time for everyone to celebrate

#ReadersResponse: Eid is here!
It is a most blessed time for everyone, and residents in Oman have much to say about the goodwill, friendship, and brotherhood that this festival represents to everyone in the Sultanate.

“I’m from the Philippines but I respect all religions, since I’ve worked in different countries, which made me aware of the cultures and traditions and beliefs of people,” said Dahlia C. Castaneda. “Just like people do in the Arab countries, we rejoice when food is prepared for Eid.” “Eid means reconnecting with family, and a promise to help them and to remember them during the difficult times of their lives. In many ways, Eid is also like Christmas, because it is the time when people get together, family get together, and share whatever they have. Eid is a representation of happiness to everybody.”

Nuzha Mohamed added, “Eid is about family and love. It’s all about dressing up and going for prayers together.
“To me, it’s about returning home to tuck into a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast cooked by my mom and spending the day with family and friends,” she added. “No matter where you are and whoever you are with, Eid is an occasion to celebrate.”

It was the universality of this blessed occasion that seemed to unite the opinions of people in the Sultanate.
“Eid is a most sacred occasion,” said Sajid Ansari, as Gopal Sharma opined, “This Eid, I greet warm and friendly Eid Mubarak to all of my brothers and sisters and wish to congratulate them on their joy and prosperity. It is a nice festival with fond memories for me, because many of my friends bring sweets for me and my family, and we share many memories together,” he added. “I really like the Omani people because we always have good relations with them. I have spent six years in Oman, and I have to say, it is a really nice place.”

S. M. Monir was also eager to share his wishes with everyone.
“Eid Mubarak to everyone around the world,” he exclaimed. “The new moon has been sighted, and I cannot wait to celebrate Eid in Oman with my friends and family. It is a truly blessed occasion,” as Abid Hussain Malik chipped in with “Eid is a gift given to us by God, when we remember our pasts and recall how blessed we are.”

Ahmed Sajjad is also looking forward to celebrating the festive occasion.
“Eid Al Adha only comes once a year, and there is so much excitement among those who are celebrating. It is a very sacred occasion, and we are rightly expected to say our prayers and do good deeds in the name of those who are not as lucky as we are,” he said.
“I wish all of my friends and their family in Oman a very joyous and prosperous Eid Mubarak,” said Eddy Yumba.
